Hang Jian Guo was born in 1957 in Hangzhou, Zhejiang.
From 1981, he studied in the "Hangzhou Arts and Crafts School" and "Zhejiang Academy of Fine Arts."
From 1982, he served as a committee member of Yixian Painting and Calligraphy Institution in Zhejiang Province", Director of Zhejiang Artists Association, member of Chinese Arts and Crafts Society, General Secretary of International Ink Painting Association in China, and other professional arts associations.
From 2007, he was the Executive Director of the Chinese Painting and Calligraphy Association and the Deputy General Secretary of the Chinese Painting and Creation Institute. He has served as an editor of art journals including Chinese Artists, National Expo of China, Chinese Folk Painting and Calligraphy and Hengfeng Art of China, and Art Director of the Chinese Contemporary Poetry and Calligraphy Research.
Since 2008, he has been employed as an art expert of the Hangzhou Arts and Crafts.
Since 2013, he has been appointed as Professor of the Institute of Arts and Crafts of Hangzhou Normal University and as an editor-in-chief of art journal of Da Jiang Do Qu.
In 2014, he received a title of National Artist and Senior Arts and Craft Artist.
