Britannia Shipyards, Stilt Houses and a Chinese Bunkhouse 15in x 20in Watercolor On Fine Art Pape
Vancouver born Artist Sonia Mocnik is inspired by the outdoors. Her artwork captures colour, light and the relationship they make with the stroke of a paintbrush. She explores different techniques and subject matter working primarily in watercolour and pen and ink. She works to capture the source of light and the energy that is evoked from nature she sees around her.
Sonia’s watercolours have been chosen for the group exhibitions at the Harmony Arts Festival in West Vancouver the past four years. Her watercolour painting “Britannia Shipyards” was shown in Fabriano, Italy in April 2016. Her first solo show was in 2016 at the Unitarian Church of Vancouver. She is an avid plein air competitor winning awards for her paintings and enjoys being involved with several art associations including being an Active Member of the Federation of Canadian Artists.
Inspired by the techniques of local Artist Enda Bardell and Artist Alfonso Tejada, she tries to work with many similar colours and washes in her paintings. She instructs classes, including enrichment programs in watercolour on cruise ships and presents art demonstrations on request. Her blog on www.soniamocnik.com has a large following.
