Deep 12in x 36in Acrylic on gallery wrap canvas
Cassandra Arnold was born in England. She spent most of her life in Australia and moved to Calgary, Alberta in 2010.
She is a retired humanitarian physician and has been an Active member of the Federation of Canadian Artists since January 2016.
Cassandra primarily paints in acrylic because of its fast drying, vibrant colour and texture. She also enjoys the expressive nature of charcoal and soft pastel, and the simplicity of graphite.
Her recent work has been inspired by the Rocky Mountains and the paintings of Australian artists, Brett Whitely and Fred Williams.
Of her process, she says:
My paintings tell stories about the wonder and power that lie beneath the appearance of things. Through art, I can make my response to the world visible to others and evoke an answering response in the viewer.
I love the freedom that paint gives me to discover how each subject wants to be expressed. The outcome is never entirely predictable. Which is, for me, a substantial part of the joy of making art.”
