Banff Winter 16in x 20in Acrylic On Gallery Wrapped Canvas
Primarily self-taught, Holly has been pursuing her career in art for the past 5 years. She comes from a design background and has a degree in Interior Design. Attaining this degree has taught her the backbone and math behind drawing, as well as introducing her to watercolor. This in turn opened the door for her to pursue an interest in acrylics. Holly works primarily in acrylics and loves a challenge. She especially enjoys painting on large canvases as she feels with larger brushes, comes greater expression.
Growing up on a farm and currently living in the countryside east of Edmonton, Alberta, Holly has great admiration for landscapes. Her paintings tend towards realism as influenced by her background in design, which including drafting, comes out in her art through crisp lines of focus. In a complimentary contrast, she is also greatly influenced by artists such as Min Ma and Robert Genn, who leave visible brushstrokes in their artwork. Her paintings may look like a photo but on closer inspection leave wonderful imprint of the artist behind the brush.
A member of the Federation of Canadian Artists, Holly’s work has won awards, had acceptance to international shows, had media coverage (both tv and online magazine - upcoming) and is included in private collections around the world. She is represented by the Different Strokes gallery in Olds, Alberta.
