Since my youth, the magical beauty of artistic paintings or drawings have captured my attention. I am fascinated with the beauty of nature and portraits by Old Masters.
Growing up, any free time I had, I spent with a pencil or a paintbrush. During that time, I was searching for something fascinating, something unique, a new idea.
Now my practice focuses on symbolically opening a window to the past and introducing masterpieces of well-known masters in my own way. Pieces like “Mail from the Past” by Van Gogh, or “Tribute to the Caravaggio” best exemplify my vision. In this style, I also aim to depict other famous people, such as Nikola Tesla.
The three dimensional illusion of my paintings, my use of trompe l'oeil or the trick of the eye, gives a sense of dimension to my artworks. So while my attention still stays with traditional styles of painting: nature, still life, as well as portraits, I communicate these genres in a new and accessible way.
One of my favourite quotes from Joan Miro is “The panting rises from the brush stokes as a poem rises from the words. The meaning comes later”, this philosophy guides me in my own practice.
My exhibition history is extensive, having featured in over 100 exhibitions and shows such as: Old country, Germany, Canada. I’ve held a few solo exhibitions and received many art awards and accolades. I hold membership with the Federation of Canadian Artists, their Fraser Valley Chapter and with the International Guild of Realism.
